Paper Sky, a little flight over Phoenix

We made a paper plane you can fly over Phoenix at golden hour. Take a short flight, or leave the score behind and stay a while.

Paper SkyA folded paper plane over an imagined Phoenix neighborhood at golden hourNo. 05

We wanted to make something just for fun. Paper Sky is a little folded plane flying over an imagined Phoenix, with Camelback in the distance and the evening slowly coming in.

You move to steer, tap for a little lift, and hold to dive. The warm air above the roofs carries you up. There are lanterns to collect, notes floating around, and hoops hanging under hot-air balloons. If you bump something, the paper crinkles and you keep going.

A flight lasts a few minutes. Eventually the lift runs out or the evening catches up, and the plane finds a soft place to land. You can save a postcard from the flight, too.

There’s also a Just fly button. It hides the score and keeps you in the air. The music is made in the browser from little plucked notes and soft pads, with some wind underneath. There aren’t any recordings playing in the background.

The whole screen is the place you’re flying through. We kept the controls on scraps of paper, and wrote the score on the wing. The city and everything above it were built in code, including a very large paper crane that might decide to come along.

It’s free, and it doesn’t need an account. Open it when you have a few minutes and see where you end up.
